YOUR TURN:

Solve          5 - (4/3)x = 2

Sometimes, there are two fractions to deal with:

Solve    (3/5)x + 2 = 1/4

We'll need to ditch the 5 AND the 4...  So, we'll multiply both sides by 5x4 = 20!

20( (3/5)x + 2 ) = 20(1/4) which gives ((20)(3)/5)x + 20(2) = (20)(1)/4 which gives 12x + 40 = 5 ditch the 40... 12x + 40 - 40 = 5 - 40 which gives 12x = -35 ditch the 12... 12x/12 = -35/12 which gives x = -35/12
