Let's try another one:

y > ( 1 / 2 )x

Remember how to graph y = ( 1 / 2 )x ?  Think y = mx + b!

What side do we shade?

Pick a point NOT on the line and try it!

Let's try (1, 0) ...

             y > ( 1 / 2 )x

0 > ( 1 / 2 ) ( 1 )

Nope!  This doesn't work!

So, shade the other side.

the graph of y > ( 1 / 2 )x ... the line is dashed, and the portion of the graph above the line is shaded

Remember that this means that ALL the points in the shaded area work in our inequality.

y > ( 1 / 2 )x


TRY IT:

Graph x > ( 1 / 3 )y

( Be careful!  Get it in y = mx + b form! )
