Here's another one:

Find the inverse of f( x ) = 2x - 1

STEP 1:

y = 2x - 1

STEP 2:

x = 2y - 1

STEP 3:

x = 2y - 1 ... add 1 to both sides ... x + 1 = 2y ... divide both sides by 2 ... ( 1 / 2 )x + ( 1 / 2 ) = y

STEP 4:

f^( -1 )( x ) = ( 1 / 2 )x + ( 1 / 2 )

Check it!

Find the inverse of f( x ) = -( 2 / 3 )x + 5
