Another notation that you will see for "opposite" is another negative sign!

The "opposite of -4" can also be written as

- ( -4 )

So,

- ( -4 ) = 4

Note:  In the subtraction lesson, you'll be putting a "+" in with that answer:

 - ( -4 ) = +4


Try it:

Find the opposite of 10.

Find the opposite of -7.

- ( -8 ) = __
