The other thing that can happen isn't super freaky... But, it will make your life a lot easier.

Let's say you're given this:

3 + 5x - 2x^2 = 0

Notice that the squared guy is negative.  This makes factoring a really creepy experience.

Remember... these guys are equations... So, all of our old tricks work.

Can we multiply both sides by -1 ?  Sure can, Skippy!  Do it!

-1 * (3 + 5x - 2x^2 ) = 0 * ( -1 ) which gives -2 - 5x + 2x^2 = 0

Now, just rearrange it like you're used to:

 2x^2 - 5x - 3 = 0

Finish it!
