Here's one where using the rule (which I haven't shown you yet) can get tricky:

w^3 / w^5

Let's reason this out:

w^3 / w^5 = 1 / w^2

Simplify   x / x^4  by writing out what each one means:

Now, you know enough to reason through some messier ones!  (Yes, even without the rule!)

( 21 x^5 w^3 ) / ( 9 x^2 w^10 )
